If you want to download a video from Youtube; the best way it can be achieved is by using a GNU/Linux machine. There is no need to go to any other website paste the URL yada yada yada. Wondering how?
1. Open Firefox in your Linux machine.
2. Open Youtube and go to the video you want to download
3. Let it buffer ( you may or may not see the video). Now go to the /tmp/ folder of your file system and check for a file with a funny looking name, mostly starting with Flash…. and see that the size is increasing. This my friends, no prize for guessing, the video being downloaded.
4. All you need to do is that before closing the tab where the video is open, copy the file and paste it in your home directory
5. Change the extension to .flv .. And voila wehave our video
